ALKU'S INTERNET SPEED INCREASED

With the start of the 2017-2018 academic year, our internet usage on campus increased with the effect of new students. Our request for speed increase, which we made months in advance in anticipation of this increase, was accepted by Ulakbim and our speed was increased to 200 Mbps on campus and 300 Mbps in all university campuses.

The necessary examinations and usage statistics are periodically carried out in order to increase our internet speed to the appropriate level according to the need that will arise as the number of students and staff increases.

300 Mbps speed is faster and more stable than standard adsl (asynchronous) internet connection because it is provided over the metro ethernet line (synchronous). The standard adsl connection provided as 8Mbps in homes and workplaces is actually used as 1 MBps. In addition, connection speeds for standard adsl may decrease according to the speed and pool usage in the region where it is connected. However, this is not the case with metro ethernet connections. In the metro ethernet connection, the speed is constant and stable over the fiber line. In summary, our general speed within our university is equivalent to the standard adsl connection of nearly 100 homes and workplaces.
